PREPARE YOURSELF

• Load and unload your livestock (Fire Safe Council can put you in contact with people who will help you practice this)
• Check in with family and neighbors
• Visit evacuation/staging sites
• Practice access/use of emergency alert/notification phone apps
• Update animal/owner identification forms
• Know how to get to main evacuation centers, Del Mar Fairgrounds and Horsepark

1. Know your evacuation routes. Printable map
2. Make sure your animals are familiar with being loaded and transported
3. Locate and prearrange an evacuation site for you and your livestock, and know how to get to the main large evacuation sites, Del Mar Fairgrounds and Horsepark
4. If you need assistance, have a plan with a friend or neighbor who can assist you
5. Create defensible space around your barn and corrals.
6. Have identification ON your animals (phone #, name). There are several good options available, including dog tags (available at most pet stores). For example, Fetlock ID bands.

There will be pick-up staging sites approved by Animal Services, Humane Society and Cal Fire/NC Fire. They serve as pick-up sites once an evacuation order has been given.

You will be responsible for getting your livestock to these locations and remaining with them until they are evacuated
